如何在高中英语阅读中培养批判性思维

1.教学内容分析

批判性思维（critical thinking）作为一种思维方式，旨在作出准确的判断，是以有依据的判断为目标，并采用适当的评价标准，确定事物真正的价值或优点的思考（The Critical Thinking Community, 2015）。批判性思维让人积极地、创造性地思考，而不是简单地服从权威或习俗。《普通高中英语课程标准（实验）》（，2003）指出，高中英语教学应该着重培养学生的批判性思维能力。

议论文是培养学生批判性思维的优质材料，但高中英语教材却比较缺乏适合培养学生批判性思维的议论文语篇。以人教版英语教材必修模块一至五为例，25篇主课文中包括15篇记叙文和7篇说明文，其余3篇为对话，缺少议论文体裁。因此，备课团队选取了1995年全国高考卷阅读理解C篇作为此次培训会的教学材料（见附录）。

该材料经过整合改编后全文总长231词，一些生词，如zoochosis，可以从上下文推测其意思，词汇难度不大；存在一些可能影响学生理解的长难句，如文章开头的反问句等。考虑到本篇阅读材料结构清晰这一特点，在学习方式上备课团队决定采用学生自主阅读、记录关键信息、自主构建文章形式图式和小组合作分享相结合的方式，让学生自己研读、探究、体验，与文本对话，丰富自我，在阅读活动中积极思考，自主分析和鉴赏课文。在阅读满足学生个体需求的基础上使课堂呈现思维的多元性，把课堂真正还给学生。

2.学生分析

基于对教学内容和学生情况的分析，备课团队将本节课定位为以培养学生的批判性思维能力为主的阅读课，并制定了以下教学目标：

（1）能通过快速阅读识别并理解作者反对动物园圈养动物的态度和观点；通过细读获取并理解作者的论点、论据及结论，并用进行记录，同时以思维导图的形式展示逻辑关系，并进行阐释。

4.教学设计思路

（1）备课思维过程

在高中英语阅读教学模式化比较的情况下，作为一节代表参加全国高中英语教学观摩培训会的课例，应该在模式上有所突破，为英语阅读教学提供新思路。

在目前高中英语阅读教学中，阅读仅仅停留在信息提取层面，对发展学生的深层次思维关注不够。

备课团队决定在本节阅读课上重点训练学生的批判性思维能力，让学生做积极的阅读者。教师学生对任何可能形成结论的陈述提出合理的质疑，寻找有力的证据，进而养成思考的习惯。

在整个阅读过程中学生一直处于批判性思考之中：从识别文章的主要观点，到获取支持观点的证据，再到最终找到作者的结论，教师一直鼓励学生思考，与文本互动。在理解这些信息的基础上，学生就会将文章内容与自己的经验进行比较，不断对自己提问：文章内容与我的想法是一致的还是矛盾的？作者到底想要阐述什么观点？作者给出了哪些理由？我是否被这些理由说服了？我的依据又是什么？我自己又得出什么结论？我自己的观点是否令人信服？

《普通高中英语课程标准（实验）》（，2003）要求英语教学进一步明确学生的学习目的，发展学生自主学习和合作学习的能力，形成有效的英语学习策略。高中英语课程的设计与实施有利于学生优化英语学习方式，使他们通过观察、体验、探究等积极、主动的学习方法，充分发挥自己的学习潜能，形成有效的学习策略，提高自主学习的能力，形成具有个性的学习方法和风格。但是，目前高中英语阅读教学过程过于简单化和表面化，更关注结果，忽视阅读体验过程，而且对个性化阅读关注不够。

备课团队决定在本节课上采用个性化阅读的学习方式，把阅读的自还给学生。阅读活动以学生自主研读为主，把阅读活动变为学生自我探究、自我体验的活动，让学生在阅读活动中积极思考，自主把握、分析和鉴赏课文，使阅读活动建构在学生自主活动的基础上。

本篇阅读文章的中心话题为是否应该支持动物园圈养动物。本节课的教学主线就是理解作者对于这个话题的观点、论据和结论。在信息输入环节，教师给学生充足的时间和充分的空间，让学生安静阅读，以记笔记的形式获取作者对于这个话题的观点、论证过程以及结论。在阅读过程中学生对于课文有了整体感知和整体把握，体会了作者完整的思维过程，也在与文本的对话交流中丰富了自己对动物园圈养动物问题的认识和理解，为个人观点的形成和表达作铺垫。整节课是一个丰富和表达个人真实思想的过程。

（2）课堂教学活动

在理清了本节课的教学目标和教学主线后，本节课主要设计了以下几个教学活动：

①激活图式，形成阅读期待。学生通过观看动物在自然环境和在动物园里的两种不同状态，激活有关动物园及动物的背景知识和经验，并表达自己的看法。同时学生在教师问题的下形成想要通过阅读去了解作者观点的期待。

②建立语篇图式，深化理解。学生自主阅读，识别并归纳作者的观点、论据以及结论，以了解文章主要内容；同时通过记录和绘制不同思维导图的方式展示语篇的逻辑关系，将语篇信息转换为可视的图像信息，从而整体感知语篇的内在语义关系，推动深层理解，同时建立起议论文的形式图式。

③丰富图式，构建个人理解。学生通过小组分享，修正对文本的理解，然后再次进行批判性阅读，结合个人背景知识和生活体验表达对作者观点的看法以及对作者论据的客观评价，形成个人的思想和见解。

（3）教学内容的调整

对于刚进入高二年级的学生来讲，本篇阅读材料无论从词汇量上还是从句式结构的复杂程度上都有点偏难。因此，备课团队对阅读材料作了以下调整：

① 文本生词的处理

由于是高考阅读文章，文中一些词汇对于高二学生来说是生词，而且上下文并不能提供足够的线索帮助学生猜出词义。因此教师在阅读材料中对bar、claim、captive breeding等生词标注了中文释义。

② 复杂句式的处理

教师在前期教学中发现，在识别和归纳作者的论据时，很少有学生会提及圈养动物的效果。课后与学生交流发现，文章第三段中的句子“Captive breeding of enered species has not resulted in their being sent back to the wild.”造成理解障碍，因此学生对这一点避而不谈。由于本节课主要是思维训练课，教师不愿意打断学生思维活动的连贯性，故不涉及过多的长难句讲解。于是备课团队经过与外教讨论，将该句调整为：Captive breeding has not led to enered species going back to the wild.

由于本次课例的时间为35分钟，在一节以培养思维能力为目标的英语阅读课上，若要保证教学目标达成的效果，就必须给学生充分的阅读时间和思考时间。同时，自主阅读并记录关键信息的学习方式更增加了对时间的要求。因此，备课团队经过认真讨论一致认为应该从原文第三、四段中删去一段。最终我们选择删去第三段，保留第四段，原因是第四段有关圈养繁殖的内容可以更好地培养学生的批判性思维能力。

三、教学过程
